CECILIA

Female, estimated 6 or 7 years old.
The live of Cecilia was on the streets for many years. The neighbourhood where she was living was not too bad. The people in that area knew her and she was tolerated and even fed by some lovely people. There was a baker nearby and Cecilia was always around. Cecilia had a dangerous hobby: chasing cars. That was not wise … and of course at some day she got hit and was injured. We got a call and went to pick her up. Cecilia got medical care, and recovered in the shelter. She has a limb probably of a earlier accident. For a long time we considered bringing her back to the neighbourhood where she came from, and keeping a eye on here. But her dangerous hobby would definitely bring her into big trouble again. So we made a difficult decision for her. Cecilia stays in the shelter but she is not very happy. The shelter is too busy, too many dogs around her and she misses her freedom. Cecilia loves human attention so very very much, also children. She loves being petted, brushed, soft words…oh she adores it, also a calm en easy short walk to get a good sniff outside is a real treat for her.
Cecilia is a quiet, calm dog, waiting for her turn to get some attention. With er eyes she tries to tell you “ please come in my kennel and chill with me”. Cecilia however has a issue: she is absolutely not good with other dogs. Life in the shelter is tough for her.
We have a dream for Cecilia: a save home, with her own humans and without other dogs, a garden would be lovely to stroll a bit. She doesn’t ask for much. Sadly we know all to well how small her chances on adoption are but we hope so very very much for her.
In the mean time it would be fantastic if we find a "friend at distance" for her, someone who cares and helps funding her daily care. She needs supplements for her joints, she could benefit from special food to support her and maybe some special human attention for her can be provided this way.
HERMIS
Male, about 6 years old, mix Greek Shepherd.
The story of Hermis is sad, very sad. He was a stray of course, tried to survive by looking for food on the beach. Nobody knows for how long he had to live like this. At some point he defended his food with a bite towards a person. That sealed his faith …. he had to be put down. The team did not agree and took him in. Hermis is living in the shelter for ….. years now. Hermis is a lovely guy as you can see. He adores soft and gentle attention and also a good brush. Hermis is smart, good with other dogs and very loyal. Once he know’s you are OK, you get a place in his hart and you will stay there. Hermis needs care for a ear infection, a check for his teeth and joints. Diet food would do him good.
We have a dream for Hermis: a person that will take him on nice walks, a ride in the car and give him some mental challenges by changing the scenery for example or some other exercise. A person that knows about dog communication and can give Hermis the reassurance that he needs to help him with his behaviour.
